I originally was just going to post the poster for Edgar Wrights three films (Scott Pilgrim, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) but when I found out who created the poster I decided to show more. I actually had a hard time picking my favorites. The work is done by DKNG Studios, who are Dan Kuhlken and Nathan Goldman. Beautiful illustrations and lovely type work.
I was browsing the ol’ typography served on the behance network and came across the number by Yi Thying. It’s a “hand-illustrated typographic portrait of The Beatles inspired by the bold and illustrative typefaces used in their movie, Yellow Submarine. Lyrics from their songs form this marker-rendered portrait.” This would look lovely in my living room.
Monstrous Wildlife is an educational film about Graboids, which Frank Robnik created for his bachelor thesis at the university of applied sciences augsburg (germany) 2010. This animation is killer, and you might just learn something about our gentle friends, the Graboids.
Jessica Hische is a type illustrator living in Brooklyn, NY and had recently had a show exhibiting letter-pressed versions of her infamous drop caps, which are also for sale. If you love these caps, (who doesn’t?), head over to Daily Drop Cap in which she posts a new letter (almost) each day. I would buy one but I have no money—maybe if bake her a cake…
